SHUTTLE BUS DRIVER
Mountain Bike Rotorua - Hosting - Casual or Permanent - $28.50-$32+ per hour for qualified drivers

We are looking for new whānau to join our Shuttle Crew. Our Shuttle Bus Drivers are friendly, helpful, love the team atmosphere and are passionate about creating safe and enjoyable experiences for all our manuhiri, and locals alike, to the Whakarewarewa Forest in Rotorua.

 

The Mountain Bike Rotorua whānau (family) is one that was born from an ethos of ensuring that every experience is always about people. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All staff are expected to undertake the following daily duties:

  • Report to Duty Manager on arrival and departure.

  • Vehicle and Trailer Safety and Compliance Check.

  • Vehicle and Trailer Tidy Check.

  • Vehicle and Trailer Service Check (Oil, Coolant, Washer Fluid, Tire Pressures).

  • Ticket and Cash Box Check.

  • Daily Takings Reconciliation.

  • Vehicle Check In (fuelled, cleaned, serviced).

  • Attend daily meeting with duty manager and complete delegated actions.

  • Complete all duties for the role for which they are asked to undertake. 

  • Sign in and out of WhenIWork at the start/end of their shift and for breaks.

  • Customer interaction and service.

  • Briefing customers on appropriate trail options for their riding ability.

  • Comprehensive safety briefing forest signage/hazards, emergency procedures.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Cash handling skills.

  • P Class Endorsement.

  • Class 2 Licence.

  • Cultural Interpretation and Knowledge of the Forest including ownership, management and stakeholders.

  • Environmental and Sustainable practices.

  • First Aid Certificate.

  • Robust knowledge of the Forest including suitable mountain bike trails, forestry roads and alternative routes.

  • Experience driving 4WD Vehicles.

  • Experience Guiding in the outdoors.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Friendly and presentable.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Financial Literacy.

  • Ability to operate to set standards, follow procedures and guidelines and maintain good records.

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (will be required to converse with NZ and International visitors).

  • Highly motivated individual.

  • Excellent telephone/radio manner.

  • Broad knowledge of New Zealand geography and information.

  • Knowledge of the Whakarewarewa Forest and trail options.

  • Knowledge of Rotorua History, in particular the Maori history.

  • The following will be advantageous:

    • Experience in the tourism industry

    • An interest in cycling, the outdoors and bike mechanics

  3. Comprehensive and helpful advice on trail options

 

Health and Safety:

  • Adopt a positive and focussed approach to health and safety in the workplace, to ensure active steps are taken to ensure own wellbeing and wellbeing of others.

  • Follow all MBRS health and safety practices, systems and processes.

  • Carry out required reporting for hazards, accidents and incidents.

  • Continually seek to isolate and eliminate hazards.

  • Wear all required PPE

  • Work with Health and Safety Representatives

 

This role can either be casual or permanent, working a range of shifts within our opening hours, operating across 7 days a week. Candidates must be available weekends. This role may develop into a supervisory role.
